This collaboration is a great move for both parties. Disney will be able to reach a massive and engaging audience within Fortnite. Meanwhile, many Star Wars fans will be looking to get on the game to make sure that they see this scene.
This partnership follows a series of cross-promotions that Star Wars has done with major companies across the globe this year. The franchise has aligned with several firms to promote the Rise of Skywalker. Samsung has released special Star Wars edition Galaxy Note 10+.
Along with this, United Airlines had painted the livery on one of its Boeing 737-800s to have a galactic theme. Furthermore, Porsche, Bose, General Electric, McDonald’s, General Mills and Dannon are other key companies that have had a partnership campaign with Star Wars.
This film is set a year after the events of The Last Jedi. Here, the remnants of the Resistance will once again face the First Order. Along with this, the fight between the Jedi and the Sith is anticipated to end, which would bring the Skywalker saga to an absolute close.
With both Fortnite and Star Wars featuring futuristic weapons and epic battles, it is a collaboration that naturally fits. The two franchises have similar target audiences and they already started their collaboration last month.
Fortnite has been diving into its in-game special events recently. There was a huge buzz when the title’s universe came to an end a few months ago. This caused a lot of anticipation before the game rebooted once again to launch its second chapter.
