We are less than a month away until Samsung’s next launch event. However, images of what looks to be its next flagship release have already leaked. Introducing the new flagship Samsung S20!
Change in name
There have been several rumors surrounding the upcoming smartphone releases from the tech giant. We had previously received leaks of what appeared to be renders of the Galaxy S11, S11 Plus, and S11e.
Now, it looks like the Japanese firm has skipped some numbers out this time. It has gone straight to S20, matching the year of the product’s release.
XDA Developers shared the leaked images of the S20+, which show both the front and rear of the phone. On the back, there are four cameras on the top left, joined by a flash and what appears to be a microphone spot.
These six points join together to form a symmetrical pattern on the bump. There is a volume rocker and a power button on the side of the device. However, there appears to be no Bixby button, unlike its predecessors.
There are tiny bezels at the front of the device. Additionally, the Infinity-O display is much less curved than previous models. XDA reports that the feel of the phone is very similar to the Google Pixel 2 XL.
Moreover, it looks like Samsung has chosen to include 2.5D glass in this device rather than its usual curved offering. This phone is also set to arrive with a pre-installed screen protector just like the S10. Additionally, the centered hole punch at the top of the front appears to be smaller than the Galaxy Note 10.
Strong specs expected
Going by Samsung’s previous offerings, the S20+ would be expected to be the most premium model in the series. However, this time, it will likely sit in the middle of the lineup. This is because Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
Big things are expected from the Ultra as it has been reported to have outstanding camera capabilities. Rumors of a 108-megapixel main camera have been floating about for Samsung’s next flagship title. This would make it one of the most powerful commercials phone cameras ever.
On the other hand, the S20+ may come with a 12MP 1.8μm main image sensor. The other cameras are likely to offer ultra-wide, telephoto and macro lens capabilities. Finally, the microphone that joins them on the rear could assist with Samsung’s zoom-in microphone tool.
More to be revealed
Altogether, this is set to be a powerful offering by the company, which has been busy promoting its innovations this month. At CES 2020, it announced a range of groundbreaking services and devices.
