This week, LG Electronics announced that it will be introducing an ambitious new range of soundbars in 2020. One of the many interesting features of the upcoming releases is the introduction of “AI Room Calibration”.
A full offering
According to a press release, LG shared that it will launch this lineup at CES 2020 in Las Vegas. Apart from being designed to nicely match with the South Korean outfit’s televisions, this range will ensure that its users will receive top-quality audio.
One of the partnerships that LG will continue to expand on is with Meridian Audio. Moreover, the tech giant will make use of Meridian’s low-frequency reproduction boosting and image elevation technologies. Furthermore, digital connectivity will be ensured as Google Assistant will be built into more models next year.
However, the most exciting aspect of the upcoming releases is the use of AI Room Calibration. This is set to guarantee more optimized sound by automatically tailoring output to the unique aspects of the room that it is based in.
These creations are also self-calibrating, so they will be able to recognize and analyze tones. Additionally, by combining with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, listeners will be able to hear realistic, near-studio quality sound from different directions.
Ultimately, this artificial intelligence innovation will help the output perfectly match the acoustics of whatever vicinity those hearing it are in.
Park Hyung-woo, head of LG Home Entertainment Company’s audio and video business shared that its collaborations in new technologies help it give its customers a premium offering.
“Our goal has always been to bring better sound to more people and by offering more great products that leverage our successful partnership with Meridian, our latest soundbars help achieve this,” he said, as per the release.
“High-performance, convenient and very versatile, LG’s newest models will make the premium audio experience accessible to more customers worldwide.”
A strong start to the year
Two of the new products are also winners of the CES Innovation Award. Models SN9YG and SN11RG have been praised for their high-quality sound. Meanwhile, LG’s flagship model SN11RG will be backed by two wireless rear speakers. Subsequently, this combination will enable a full 360 experience.
This announcement follows a series of moves by tech firms placing greater importance on sound quality. Recently, the likes of Amazon Echo and Tidal introduced Dolby Atmos into the features of its products.
Furthermore, AI is continuing to be experimented with across the board. Therefore, we could also see further expansions with the tech for an even more enhanced musical journey.
CES 2020 will start on January 7th and finish on January 10th. We will make sure to update on any further announcements by LG. We will also report on other noteworthy tech products that are being exhibited at the event.
