What can we expect?

Pokemon Tower Battle is a title developed by Bombay Play and is available now across all regions. In an unusual spin on Pokémon battles, gamers can stack Pokémon up against others to try and create the tallest Pokémon towers.

In a press release, Facebook claims that the concept is not as simple as it seems. Players will have to think strategically as they build their Pokémon-based towers in order to be the winner. As the buildings stack higher, battlers can catch and upgrade rare Pokémon while competing in real-time against others across the world.

Meanwhile, the CGTurbo developed Pokémon Medallion Battle is currently only available within Asia-Pacific markets. Here, gamers also have to go for a strategic approach but via card battles. Furthermore, players can collect, battle and evolve Pokémon in medallion form.

Additionally, they can join others to win gym badges and complete their Pokédex. New Pokémon will also be introduced every month for players to update their decks.

Wider audience

The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara shared that this alliance helps his firm’s games to be played by a greater scope of gamers across the world.

“We are excited to launch two new entries in the Pokémon franchise on Facebook Gaming,” Ishihara said, as per the release.

“Launching these games through Facebook will allow people all over the world to experience Pokémon in digital form, and we are especially thrilled to collaborate with Facebook Gaming in enabling new audiences to enjoy Pokémon games online.”

Facebook levels up

This announcement follows a year of Facebook Gaming partnering with various video game specialists to bolster their offering. It has recently signed deals with popular former Twitch steamers in order to build on its live-streaming audience.

Along with this, Mark Zuckerberg’s firm has invested heavily in various development projects, involving titles, software, and hardware. Therefore, Facebook shows no sign of slowing down its attack on all fronts to become a major player in the gaming industry.

The company previously showed signs of being a strong contender earlier in the decade. Games such as Farmville were incredibly popular with several of its users. Now, the tech giant is looking to become an all-encompassing gaming solution with its investments and partnerships.

Collaborating with The Pokémon Company is a clever move by the Californian outfit. Pokémon is one of the most loved gaming franchises in history and is still seeing great success with recent releases such as Pokémon GO! The series is so popular that there have been companies replicating its themes for their own games.
